DT08: Promoting the Value of the Library while Saving Money and Reducing Textbook Costs for Students

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Join Kate and Eddie as they discuss how escalating textbook costs and continually evolving technologies for delivering course content have put libraries at the center of trying to make textbooks and course materials more affordable.  Kate shares experiences and lessons learned from its Open SUNY Textbooks initiative which encourages faculty to adopt, adapt or create free or low-cost alternatives to expensive textbooks.  Learn how libraries can use the new ProQuest SIPX in combination with Summon to promote library resources that save students and the library money, while at the same time making it easier for faculty to create reading lists that adopt alternative and cheaper course materials.
